Support the Sites That Support Yours
As anyone with experience of promoting websites will be aware, there are literally thousands, if not millions of tools and services available on the Internet to boost hits on your site. How effective they are in terms of acquiring genuine visitors is concerned is at best debatable, but in my opinion most fail immediately after they send a client to your site. Why? In most cases the visit duration won't last long enough for your average counter to register. If you don't believe me, check the terms and conditions of such programs and you will see that they all contain a clause stating that their own statistics are final and may differ from your own. Hardly assuring.
Of course their will be services that work, some very well, but you will have to pay dearly for it. Link farms may very will place thousands of links on the Internet, but most will be ignored by search engines since they know how the link got where it is and its not because of user interest!
At one time ezine articles charged for article submission and rightly so in many respects. However now you pay submit your thoughts and ideas freely. This doesn't mean that the owners have made so much money that they don't want to earn any more. I expect the reality is that their content is now large enough to support them by alternative revenue sources. Now by providing this service without charge, you can send your quality journals around the web which promotes both yourself and benefits the article site at the same time. People interested in what you write may continue onto your website where you may or may not make money, it depends what your ultimate goals are, ezinearticles get new quality content to expand their library with which in turn makes them more popular.
My own writings are a testament to the effectiveness of this approach. As a direct result many have been published on further sites (increasing link popularity on search engines) and have been viewed thousands of times. My website counter has shown a number of hits referred either by ezinearticles, or by sites which have published these articles. At the same time I have increased the amount of articles available to the benefit of those who publish them, and it has all been completely free of charge. The only cost to me has been the time taken to submit something when I have a topic I want to ramble on about.
Remember though, you can get many quality links, ultimately promote your site but you won't make money if your site doesn't come up to scratch. If you want to profit from your site, make it user friendly and appealing first, then air your views and irritations later. Hopefully I will read about you soon....
